Gifting tickets, customer invitations

Can I purchase a ticket as a gift for someone else?

Yes, it is easy to order a ticket as a gift for someone else. When personalising the tickets, simply enter the first and last name of the recipient of the gifted ticket.

How does it work?

1. Ordering and payment: the person ordering the gift tickets places their order and makes the payment using their own email address. The person placing the order is thus the recipient of the invoice and responsible for the purchase.

2. Personalisation for the recipient of the gift: During the order process, you can personalise the ticket to the recipient's name. Simply enter the first and last name of the gift recipient.

Tickets will be sent to the email address of the person who placed the order and made the payment. This person is responsible for ensuring the tickets are forwarded in good time to the named gift recipient.

Are there vouchers for the ticket shop?

No, there are no vouchers for the ticket shop. However, you can easily give a ticket as a gift (see “Can I give tickets as a gift?”).

I have received an invitation. How can I redeem it?

If you have received an invitation from an exhibitor, the invitation will contain a code. The code consists of a 6-character combination of letters and numbers (or only letters). This code serves as a substitute for payment in the online ticket shop. Please enter the code in the appropriate field in the ticket shop for the event you have been invited to.

Tip: For technical reasons, the ticket shop website skips to the bottom of the page after the ticket code is entered. Please scroll back to the top and select your free ticket for the event.

Please note that these invitations are single-use only and are invalidated after redemption in the ticket shop. Invitations must be redeemed for a valid ticket before entering Leipzig Trade Fair. Only a valid ticket provides access to the event. Invitations are only valid for the event stated on the invite.

Ticket changes and ticket loss

Can I transfer personalised tickets if my plans have changed and I want to give my ticket to someone else?

Yes, it is possible to transfer your ticket to another person until shortly before the event. To transfer your ticket to someone else, please follow these steps:

1. Send an email to: tickets@leipziger-messe.de

2. Provide the ticket number, purchase date and the full name of the person to whom the ticket should be transferred.

3. Please note that it is possible to transfer tickets until shortly before the event. However, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to ensure fast processing.

4. After we have processed your request, you will receive an email from us with a link to download the transferred ticket.

Please note that:

  • Tickets can generally only be transferred once, and the transfer cannot be reversed.
  • You must be sure to accurately include all the necessary details in your email to avoid delays.
  • The transferred ticket will be issued in the name of the new person, who must show the personalised ticket on entry to gain admission to the event.

What should I do if I have lost the ticket I purchased in the online ticket shop?

The confirmation email you received after purchasing the ticket contains a link to the tickets. You can use this link to download or print the ticket again. Please note that tickets cannot be duplicated. You will be denied admission to the event if someone else has already shown the barcode from your ticket to gain admission.

What if I have forgotten my ticket?

Leipzig liest programme

Where can I find the Leipzig Book Fair programme?

The programme for the Leipzig Book Fair 2025 will be published on our website on 27 February 2025.

Is there a printed programme?

In order to ensure that the programme announcements are up to date, printed programme booklets have not been available since 2023.

From February 2025 all events will be found in our program and on our app.

From March, part of the Leipzig liest programme will also be printed in the “Logbuch” supplement of the local magazine “Kreuzer”.

Signing area and signing sessions on the trade fair grounds

Do I need extra tickets for signing sessions?

It is up to the publishers to decide whether an advance ticket is required for a signing session. If there is no mention of tickets in the programme, you can simply turn up.

All signing sessions (with or without a ticket) are free of charge.

How do I get tickets, if needed?

Ticketing in the signing area in Hall 4 is always organised by the relevant publishers. Be sure to check their websites and social media accounts.

Essentially, there are two systems: Tickets are available online (via links etc.) or will be issued at the organiser’s stand.

Tickets sold out – what now?

Tickets are issued by the organising publishers. Unfortunately, we cannot issue any more tickets for these signing sessions.

How does the signing session work? When do I have to get there?

You can queue for a maximum of half an hour before the signing begins. You must already have the item you wish to have signed with you when you start queuing.

Can I bring my own books from home for signing?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own books to signing sessions on the trade fair grounds to have them signed by your favourite authors or artists.

For new editions published within the last year, we ask that you carry proof of purchase (if you still have it) or to mark the books as your private property. This is not normally necessary for older books.

Carrying proof of purchase or marking the books as your property is important to avoid misunderstandings and ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for you and our exhibitors.

What and how much can I have signed? Can I only have books signed?

The Leipzig Book Fair has not imposed any restrictions on publishers, but the final decision lies with the respective publisher or author. Experience has shown that consideration should be given to all fans. We therefore ask that you only have one book signed so that as many fans as possible have the opportunity to meet the authors.

It doesn’t matter whether the books come from your own bookshelf or were bought at the trade fair. Please mark the books you have brought with you as your own before entering the trade fair.

If I queue up, will I really meet the authors?

In the signing area, all signing tables are tightly scheduled. We may have to end a signing session if there are too many people, even if not all fans have had their books signed.

Catering and book sales

Is it possible to buy books on all days of Leipzig Book Fair?

Yes, it is possible to buy books and media at the Leipzig Book Fair every day. Books can be purchased at the exhibitor stands, after events in the forums on the trade fair grounds and at the bookshops (children’s bookshop and fantasy bookshop in Hall 3 and trade fair bookshop with a general range in Hall 4). Fixed prices apply, i.e. books are sold at a fixed retail price.

How can I pay for books and other items at the trade fair?
